SARAH MAHONEY

Sarah Mahoney is Kristi Love. What can I possibly say about Sarah? She’s the movie, and everyone I know has been blown away by her performance. Why she hasn’t gotten all famous on me yet, I don’t know, but that’s all up to Sarah. She also may be from Nebraska, but that’s just wild speculation. A young Bette Davis? [More on Sarah] 

HEIDI VAN HORNE

Heidi Van Horne is Devan, Kristi’s BFF. Since we made The Master Plan, Heidi’s become a pin-up supermodel. She showed-up for three callbacks, worked with actors in the audition phase, was awesome to deal with and only wanted to punch me in the head once. Okay, twice. But she didn’t, not even in a tank-top in the freezing rain! What you can’t tell from all of Heidi’s modeling work is that she has absolutely epic teeth. Really. [Heidi's Web Empire]

VIRGINIA WILCOX

Virginia plays April the youth group counselor. I found her in my hometown of Santa Rosa, CA at the Summer Repertory Theater where she was acting circles around everyone. V-Dub’s one of the most talented people I know, and like good people everywhere, she recognizes cantaloupe as the foul poison that it is. Virginia is currently performing in Shanghai, China, which makes sense, because she’s the kind of person who should live in London and/or Paris and be all-fabulous all the time. I miss her squeaky hooptie and maniacal horse laugh, though. There’s nothing she can’t do. [VW's Website]

NICOLE MOSBACHER

Nicole Mosbacher as Staci. Nicole may be one of the most authentic people I’ve ever met, and she helped me out enormously on The Master Plan, often moonlighting as a boom and assuring my caffeine level remained stratospheric. She lives up in Sacratomato, is newly engaged, and better keep acting. Did I mention Nic’s also in my next movie? And like, OMG! Nicole is STILL on MySpace!!! :0) [Nicole's Acting MySpace]

SABIN RICH

Sabin plays Cameron, and is originally from Philly. Before we started shooting I told Sarah that I had cast a guy named Sabin, and she said, “…is heeee, like, from Philadelphiaaaa..?” Right about then, I knew these two were going to work. [Sabin Onlineizzle]

ROB C. MARTIN

In what would have been an act of rare genius in The Master Plan, Bob suggested that he should have worn this robe in the “Four Spiritual Laws” scene in the SUV, too. But he said that AFTER we shot the scene! Ah, what could have been, Bob! When I tried to shoot 10 pages a day, he laughed, but I knew he’d come back so I shot him last! JOHN ADRIAN RILEY

John plays Kristi’s “Pop-Pop” or Grandfather, and I’m SO ready to check out his new studio in Dayton. It’s all about Sony Vegas 9 and Magic Bullet 2, John! He splits time between Los Angeles and Dayton, Ohio. Ironically, I was born in Dayton, Ohio, and on the same Air Force base they took the aliens to after they crashed at Roswell. Coincidence? DEBORAH JOHNS

Deb is Kristi’s Mom and an old friend of mine from The O.C. (surprise). Deb drove from the most southern point in “LA” to the most northern point in LA to make this movie… no small commitment. (Yes Virginia, I know you did too.) Deb’s Jag is so awesome I thought about saving some cash and doing our voice overs in it. My favorite Deb moment: “Uh, Aron, do we have permission to shoot HERE?!”

LYNNE JACOBELLIS

Just when I thought I’d never meet anyone else who went to Agoura High, here’s Lynne! Lynne makes movies too, and she has a production company called Last Minute Productions. She was awesome in the audition. [More on Lynne]

AMY LEWIS

It’s a little known fact that I considered casting Amy in the lead, but I actually thought she was too funny!

KRISTINA PALMA

Kris is my Santa Rosa homegirl and she also grew up in Mexico City. I met her in a ‘Rosa Starbucks when I was writing The Master Plan script. There was no Margarita in the movie until she served me up a quadruple mocha. After that, how could there NOT be? She’s also half Swedish (just sayin’).
